ACLU of Texas Chapters bring the effort to protect freedom and justice to local communities
Most parts of Texas are served by a Local Chapter of the ACLU of Texas. Our chapters are volunteer-led ACLU branches that address civil rights and civil liberties issues affecting local communities, represent the ACLU in local matters, and maintain our presence in communities across the state. ACLU of Texas chapters serve the largest metropolitan areas in our state:
Chapters also serve other cities and rural regions:
New chapters are forming! The ACLU of Texas welcomes new chapters recently established or currently being formed:
When a local group of volunteers and activists builds up a strong enough local presence, and there is a committed and active local membership base, a new chapter of the ACLU of Texas may be established.
Card-carrying ACLU members are part of our national organization, the state affiliate and their local chapters.
Your Chapter
There are currently thirteen active chapters of the ACLU of Texas. If your part of our state is not represented by a chapter, and you are interesting in helping establish one, email us. In order for a chapter to be chartered, a critical mass of ACLU members must be willing to become active participants in the new chapter.
Campus Clubs
The ACLU is represented on many college and university campuses in Texas through campus clubs. To find an ACLU campus club on your campus, check your campus's student organizations office or with your local chapter of the ACLU of Texas. |
