Help the ACLU Honor Banned Books Week, September 23 - 30, 2006
In an effort to raise awareness about censorship and to promote the free exchage of ideas, on Sept. 23, the ACLU Foundation of Texas will release its annual report, "Free People Speak Freely," outlining the ACLU of Texas Banned Books Project which tracks contested, and in some cases, banned literature in Texas' public schools. In conjunction, on Wednesday, Sept. 27, the Central Texas ACLU chapter is hosting an evening of short readings from some of the "scandalous" books that made the list. Come celebrate freedom with community leaders who care about uncensored access to knowledge!
