If you believe your civil liberties have been violated, please click here to request legal assistance.  If you send the Houston Chapter your complaint, by email or by letter, it will extend the  time that it takes for your complaint to be processed.

Houston Chapter Board Meetings

The monthly ACLU of Texas Houston Chapter Board meeting is free and open to the public.  It is held at the ACLU of Texas office at 1214 West Gray (Lower Floor), Houston, TX 77019, every third Wednesday at 7 PM. 

Volunteer for the Houston Chapter

We depend upon the dedicated work of our volunteers, our success relies on your efforts. These are times of great challenge and opportunity, and the ACLU of Texas Houston Chapter is dedicated to protecting and defending the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution. We are receiving a growing number of "requests for help" and the number of cases going to trial is increasing. We are expanding our community outreach efforts beyond our traditional role as a litigator against injustice. Be part of the team making Houston safe and free. Join us if you are not yet a member.

ACLU of Texas Questions Segregated School Program
AUSTIN, TX – The American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Texas today filed an open records request asking that the Beaumont Independent School District disclose information regarding the “Big 3 Conference” held at West Brook High School on March 29, 2008. The ACLU initiated its investigation after learning that only African-American, male students were required to attend the program, which included topics such as “Home Life,” “Thug Life,” ”Peer Pressure,” and “Lack of Discipline.” Read More...
