"The Least of These" at Rice University
"The Least of These," a documentary about the Hutto case will screen on Wednesday, Sept. 30, starting at 7 p.m., in the Rice University Media Center.

Least of these logo The screening is free and seating is on a first come, first-served basis.

The documentary takes a look at the T. Don Hutto Center in Taylor, Texas, a former medium-security prison that re-opened in 2006 as a family detention center. As information about troubling conditions at the facility began to leak out, activist attorneys -- including the ACLU and the ACLU of Texas -- sought to investigate and address the issues. In telling the story of their quest, the film explores the role of community and legal activism in bringing about change.

A panel discussion will follow with Barbara Hines, Director of The University of Texas at Austin Immigration Clinic; Marcy Garriott, Producer of "The Least of These;" and Lisa Graybill, ACLU of Texas Legal Director.
