January 10- Public Forum

The War on College Kids: Knowing Your Fourth Amendment Rights: A moderated public forum cosponsored by the Women's Studies Program of Texas Tech in response to complaints of police misconduct by the "Party Patrol" and recognition that citizens of the Tech Terrace neighborhood may have been subjected to possible noise violations and disruptions of the peace by late night parties

We hope this forum will afford the University Community, City Officials and Tech Terrace residents and opportunity to offer their viewpoints and observations, and provide a chance for all involved to work toward a solution that does not infringe upon Fourth Amendment Rights.

When: January 10, 2008 7PM-9PM

January 19- Film Screening

"Ghosts of Abu Ghraib"
Acclaimed filmmaker Rory Kennedy (HBO's "Indian Point: Imagining the Unimaginable") looks beyond the headlines to investigate the psychological and political context in which torture occurred when the powerful documentary GHOSTS OF ABU GHRAIB.

"How could ordinary American soldiers come to engage in such monstrous acts?" Kennedy asks. "What policies were put into place that allowed this behavior to flourish while protections granted to prisoners under the Geneva Conventions were ignored?"
