Bio
Ayania was introduced to community organizing as a reproductive justice intern at Power U: Center for Social Change in Miami, Florida. There, she witnessed the transformative power of youth-led organizing, political education, and civic engagement. Following her time at Power U, Ayania spent two years as a public school English teacher, where she saw firsthand the escalating challenges to public education and free speech.
At the ACLU of Texas, Ayania is dedicated to using cultural organizing and education as tools to resist oppression and create a better world. Her work spans across our Free Speech & Pluralism and Voting Rights issue areas. She also leads the ACLU of Texas book club “In the Margins” which fosters community for Texans resisting censorship and book bans.
Long walks, matcha, and trips to the bookstore bring her joy.
