Bio
Michele Villarreal-Chandy joined the ACLU of Texas in June 2019, bringing extensive experience in fundraising, community engagement, and cross-cultural communication.
She began her humanitarian career in 2009 supporting newly arrived refugee families as they rebuilt their lives in Texas. Drawing on fundraising skills she first developed as a student at Baylor University, Michele quickly transitioned into a development role, helping secure critical resources to support the communities she served.
As a Major Gift Officer at the ACLU of Texas, Michele practices community-centric fundraising, partnering with donors to support issue areas that affect them and their neighbors. She approaches development through an equitable, racial, and social justice–focused lens.
Since becoming a mother, Michele has become even more committed to helping make Texas a safe and welcoming place for all who call it home.
Michele holds a Master of Science in International Political Economy from the University of Texas at Dallas.
