Valerie Street is the founder and president of Texas Progressive Action Network (TPAN), a volunteer powered nonprofit committed to advancing voter education and good public policy in Texas through advocacy and outreach. Recently, TPAN launched Our Vote Texas, a grassroots project that focuses on voter registration and voter rights advocacy in various parts of Texas.

This past September, the House Redistricting Committee kicked off a series of statewide public input hearings in Austin. The purpose of these hearings is to gauge feedback from various communities throughout the state about how Texas redistricting, or the redrawing of state electoral maps, impacts all of us.
