Growing Up Coy Film Screening - El Paso

February 22, 2018 @ 6:30 pm 9:15 pm

Please join us for a screening of the award-winning documentary film Growing Up Coy Thursday, February 22. The film chronicles the journey of Coy Mathis and her family, as they fought for her rights to use her school’s girl’s bathroom. Her landmark case was the first in the US that granted rights for anyone to use the bathroom matched with the gender identity that they identified with. Coy’s journey sheds insight into the uphill battle the transgender community face with discriminatory legislation that targets their access to public bathrooms.

This free film screening is open to the public and will be followed by a conversation with representatives from the ACLU of Texas and our partner organizations. Resources for teachers and students will be provided after the screening and food and drinks will also be served! Please RSVP or send any questions to [email protected].
