With more and more people making their voices heard by marching in the streets, it’s essential to have trained legal observers to ensure that no one’s First Amendment rights are violated. That’s why we’re hosting a legal observer training where you can learn how to be a neutral observer for the ACLU of Texas. Our legal observers monitor and record law enforcement interactions with protestors to hold them accountable if they violate someone’s rights.
We’ll cover what to look out for at rallies and protests, how to remain neutral as an observer, and how you can become a leader on our legal observer coordinator team.
You must be 18 years of age or older to act as legal observer.
