The Texas State Legislature convenes on the second Tuesday in January of every odd-numbered year. The legislature consists of a House of Representatives and a Senate, which is presided over by the Lieutenant Governor. Special sessions of the legislature can only be called by the Governor.
We work to protect civil liberties for all Texans by either placing, supporting, altering, or defeating legislation that would threaten those civil liberties, either independently or with our partners in diverse statewide coalitions.
