Statements from Legal Director Lisa Graybill and Executive Director Terri Burke

“We are pleased to have settled the matter of attorneys' fees in this case because it means we can put our successful challenge to the first anti-immigrant rental ordinance to bed, and focus all of our efforts on our current challenge to the latest iteration (or version) of Farmers Branch's anti-immigrant housing ordinance.” said Lisa Graybill, legal director of the ACLU of Texas.

“Litigation is an expensive proposition as this settlement shows. Farmers Branch city officials seem intent on wasting more taxpayer money with their continued illegal attempts to discriminate against residents who rent instead of own homes. We urge them to turn their attention to the real needs of their city and its residents,” said Terri Burke, executive director of the ACLU of Texas.
