HOUSTON - The controversial 20 week abortion ban bill is up for a vote today in the House Committee on State Affairs. The ACLU of Texas will testify in opposition to H.B. 2364. The following quote can be attributed to Rebecca Robertson, ACLU of Texas Legal and Policy Director:
“If a woman or her fetus has life-threatening complications, 20 weeks is the time in her pregnancy when those will be detected. Losing the right to make this private health decision when it's needed, can have heartbreaking and even dangerous consequences for Texas women and their families. It's time for our politicians to stop trying to impose their personal beliefs in the guise of public policy. In doing so, they endanger the health of women in Texas and interfere with women's rights to make important personal health decisions.”
