Executive Director Terri Burke: “This one of the ultimate government intrusions into the lives of Texans. Many of the elected officials who voted for this ran on promises to get government out of our lives. They’re all about getting government off our backs but don’t mind putting the government into our wombs. The inconsistency is appalling. For a group of people who pledge such fealty to the Constitution, they should know what they’ve just done won’t pass muster.”

Legal Director Lisa Graybill: “This measure represents governmental interference into a family’s most personal, private medical decision and an invasion of the relationship between doctors and their female patients. This incredibly intrusive bill goes against the personal freedom that Texans so cherish, and we will explore all available options to protect women’s fundamental rights to privacy in medical decision-making and choice.”
