The ACLU of Texas works with teachers, parents, students, and legislators to ensure equality and dignity for all students in Texas, regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or gender identity. We believe that every student in Texas deserves a safe, supportive learning environment with equal access to opportunities and resources. The core of our work promoting students’ rights revolves around eliminating disproportionate punishment of Black and Latinx youth that fuel the “school-to-prison pipeline,” defending and affirming the rights and identities of LGBTQ youth, and protecting students’ rights to privacy and free speech on campus and online.
